The Holy Quran 4:120 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ ۖ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا

Translation

He (Shaytaan) promises them (good results) and creates hopes (vain desires of long lives and great wealth) within them. (However) Shaytaan promises them only deception (because none of these promises and hopes will materialise).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يعد الشيطان أتباعه بالوعود الكاذبة، ويغريهم بالأماني الباطلة الخادعة، وما يَعِدهم إلا خديعة لا صحة لها، ولا دليل عليها.
