The Holy Quran 48:26 — Surah Al-Fath

Arabic text

إِذْ جَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَكَانُوٓا۟ أَحَقَّ بِهَا وَأَهْلَهَا ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا

Translation

When the Kuffaar (of Makkah) took the prejudice within their hearts, (which was) the prejudice of the period of ignorance (because of which they did not permit the writer of the treaty to write "Rasulullaah ﷺ," but "Muhammad the son of Abdullaah" instead); Allaah sent His tranquillity (tolerance) to the heart of His Rasool ﷺ and to the hearts of the Mu'mineen (because of which they did not fight about it) and stuck the word of Taqwa (the Kalimah) onto them (which made them obey Allaah's command to be calm) as they are most deserving of it and worthy of it. Allaah always has knowledge of everything.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إذ جعل الذين كفروا في قلوبهم الأنَفَة أنَفَة الجاهلية؛ لئلا يقروا برسالة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، ومن ذلك امتناعهم أن يكتبوا في صلح «الحديبية» «بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم» وأبوا أن يكتبوا «هذا ما قاضى عليه محمد رسول الله» ، فأنزل الله الطمأنينة على رسوله وعلى المؤمنين معه، وألزمهم قول «لا إله إلا الله»
