The Holy Quran 46:4 — Surah Al-Ahqaf

Arabic text

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ۖ ٱئْتُونِى بِكِتَـٰبٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هَـٰذَآ أَوْ أَثَـٰرَةٍ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Translation

Say, "Tell me about those (gods) whom you worship besides Allaah. Show me what (part) of the earth they have created, or do they share a partnership (with Allaah) in the heavens (because of which they have some control over affairs) ? Bring me a (divine) book (that has come) before this (Qur'aan) or a shred of reported evidence (from previous scriptures to prove that the Shirk you commit is true) if you are truthful."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قل -أيها الرسول- لهؤلاء الكفار: أرأيتم الآلهة، والأوثان التي تعبدونها من دون الله، أروني أيَّ شيء خلقوا من الأرض، أم لهم مع الله نصيب من خلق السموات؟ ائتوني بكتاب من عند الله من قبل هذا القرآن أو ببقيَّة من علم، إن كنتم صادقين فيما تزعمون.
