The Holy Quran 46:12 — Surah Al-Ahqaf

Arabic text

وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً ۚ وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّسَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ

Translation

Before it (the Qur'aan) was the book of Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام (the Torah) which was a leader (establishes a way to guide people to Allaah) and a (means of attaining Allaah's) mercy. This book (the Qur'aan) is a confirmation in Arabic to warn the oppressors (the Kuffaar about the consequences of kufr) and it is good news for those who do good (for the Mu'mineen because it tells them about their final abode in Jannah).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ومن قبل هذا القرآن أنزلنا التوراة إمامًا لبني إسرائيل يقتدون بها، ورحمة لمن آمن بها وعمل بما فيها، وهذا القرآن مصدق لما قبله من الكتب، أنزلناه بلسان عربي؛ لينذر الذين ظلموا أنفسهم بالكفر والمعصية، وبشرى للذين أطاعوا الله، فأحسنوا في إيمانهم وطاعتهم في الدنيا.
