The Holy Quran 44:37 — Surah Ad-Dukhan

Arabic text

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ

Translation

Are they (these Mushrikeen) better (more powerful) than the people of Tubba (title of the king of Yemen) and those before them? (Despite the immense strength of these people,) We destroyed them all, for they were all sinners (Kuffaar).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

أهؤلاء المشركون خير أم قوم تُبَّع الحِمْيَري والذين مِن قبلهم من الأمم الكافرة بربها؟ أهلكناهم لإجرامهم وكفرهم، ليس هؤلاء المشركون بخير مِن أولئكم فنصفح عنهم، ولا نهلكهم، وهم بالله كافرون.
