The Holy Quran 43:8 — Surah Az-Zukhruf

Arabic text

فَأَهْلَكْنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Translation

So (because of their kufr) We destroyed (the) people (of the past) who were much more powerful than these people (of the present). (Thus did) The example of the past nations pass (for those of the present to take heed and to beware of following in their footsteps).
