The Holy Quran 40:56 — Surah Ghafir

Arabic text

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَـٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ ۙ إِن فِى صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَـٰلِغِيهِ ۚ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ

Translation

Those who dispute about Allaah's Aayaat without any warrant (justification) that has come to them have only pride in the hearts, (the justification for) which they shall never reach (until they accept Islaam, they have no reason to be proud). (However, they cannot harm you in the least). So seek refuge with (protection in) Allaah. Undoubtedly, only He is the All Hearing, All Seeing.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إن الذين يدفعون الحق بالباطل، ويردُّون الحجج الصحيحة بالشُّبَه الفاسدة بلا برهان ولا حجة من الله، ليس في صدور هؤلاء إلا تكبر عن الحق؛ حسدًا منهم على الفضل الذي آتاه الله نبيه، وكرامة النبوة التي أكرمه بها، وهو أمر ليسوا بمدركيه ولا نائليه، فاعتصم بالله من شرهم؛ إنه هو السميع لأقوالهم، البصير بأفعالهم، وسيجازيهم عليها.
