The Holy Quran 39:24 — Surah Az-Zumar

Arabic text

أَفَمَن يَتَّقِى بِوَجْهِهِۦ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ

Translation

(Is the person who abstains from evil better) Or the person who (because his hands will be bound) will try to use his face to save himself from a terrible punishment on the Day of Qiyaamah? It will be said to the oppressors (the Kuffaar on the Day of Qiyaamah), "Taste (the punishment for) what you (have) earned!"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

أفمن يُلْقى في النار مغلولا -فلا يتهيأ له أن يتقي النار إلا بوجهه؛ لكفره وضلاله- خير أم من ينعم في الجنة؛ لأن الله هداه؟ وقيل يومئذ للظالمين: ذوقوا وبال ما كنتم في الدنيا تكسبون من معاصي الله.
