The Holy Quran 38:8 — Surah Sad

Arabic text

أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ

Translation

"Does some speech (revelation of advice) descend on him (when he is merely a human being) from among us (and not an angel)?" However, (the fact is that) they are in doubt concerning My revelation (advice). The truth is that they (behave in this manner because they) have not yet tasted My punishment.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

أخُص محمد بنزول القرآن عليه من دوننا؟ بل هم في ريب من وحيي إليك -أيها الرسول- وإرسالي لك، بل قالوا ذلك؛ لأنهم لم يذوقوا عذاب الله، فلو ذاقوا عذابه لما تجرؤوا على ما قالوا.
