The Holy Quran 33:52 — Surah Al-Ahzab

Arabic text

لَّا يَحِلُّ لَكَ ٱلنِّسَآءُ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَلَآ أَن تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَٰجٍ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ رَّقِيبًا

Translation

After this (the wives you already have), (other) women are not permitted for you (to marry). It is also not permissible for you to take another woman in marriage in exchange of any wives, even though her (the other woman's) beauty may appeal to you, unless she be (taken as) your slave (and not as your wife). Allaah is Watchful over everything.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

لا يحل لك تزوج النساء من بعد زوجاتك أمهات المؤمنين، ولا أن تطلقهن وتتزوج بدلهن غيرهن -إكراماً لهن، وشكراً على حسن صنيعهن من اختيارهن الله ورسوله والدار الآخرة- ولو أعجبك حسن غيرهن من النساء، إلا ما ملكت يمينك من الإماء، فهن حلال لك. وكان الله على كل شيء رقيبًا، لا يغيب عنه علم شيء.
