The Holy Quran 2:251 — Surah Al-Baqarah

Translation

So they (the Mu'mineen) defeated them (the Kuffaar) by the order of Allaah. Daawood عليه الصلاة والسلام (who was a soldier in Taaloot's army) killed Jaaloot (using a catapult and three stones) and Allaah granted him (Dawood عليه الصلاة والسلام) kingship and wisdom, and taught him that which He willed (like the ability to speak to birds). If Allaah had not repelled (driven back) some men by others, the earth would have been corrupted (because the Mu'mineen would have been killed and Masaajid destroyed). However, Allaah is the One Who showers grace on the universe.

Tafsir (excerpt) —
