The Holy Quran 2:146 — Surah Al-Baqarah

Arabic text

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ ۖ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقًا مِّنْهُمْ لَيَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

Translation

Those who have been given the Book (the Jews and the Christians) recognise him (Rasulullaah ﷺ together with his lineage, tribe, place of birth, place of residence, appearance, qualities and attributes) just as they recognise their very own sons (because the Torah and the Injeel had described him to them). Without doubt there (still) exists among them a group who knowingly hide the truth.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

الذين أعطيناهم التوراة والإنجيل من أحبار اليهود وعلماء النصارى يعرفون أنَّ محمدًا صلى الله عليه وسلم رسول الله بأوصافه المذكورة في كتبهم، مثل معرفتهم أبنائهم. وإن فريقًا منهم ليكتمون الحق وهم يعلمون صِدْقه، وثبوت أوصافه.
