The Holy Quran 29:17 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْثَـٰنًا وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا فَٱبْتَغُوا۟ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرِّزْقَ وَٱعْبُدُوهُ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥٓ ۖ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Translation

"Instead of Allaah, you merely worship idols and fabricate lies (about Allaah by saying that your idols are His partners). Those (idols) that you worship instead of Allaah do not have control of your sustenance, so seek your sustenance from Allaah, worship Him and show gratitude (thanks) to Him. To Him shall you be returned."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ما تعبدون -أيها القوم- مِن دون الله إلا أصنامًا، وتفترون كذبًا بتسميتكم إياها آلهة، إنَّ أوثانكم التي تعبدونها من دون الله لا تقدر أن ترزقكم شيئًا، فالتمسوا عند الله الرزق لا من عند أوثانكم، وأخلصوا له العبادة والشكر على رزقه إياكم، إلى الله تُردُّون من بعد مماتكم، فيجازيكم على ما عملتم.
