The Holy Quran 28:79 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فِى زِينَتِهِۦ ۖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا يَـٰلَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ قَـٰرُونُ إِنَّهُۥ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ

Translation

So he (Qaaroon) emerged among his people in pomp and splendour (making a show of his wealth). Those who desired the world gaped, "If only we also possessed what Qaaroon has! Undoubtedly, he is extremely fortunate." (a man of mighty fortune)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فخرج قارون على قومه في زينته، مريدًا بذلك إظهار عظمته وكثرة أمواله، وحين رآه الذين يريدون زينة الحياة الدنيا قالوا: يا ليت لنا مثل ما أُعطي قارون من المال والزينة والجاه، إن قارون لذو نصيب عظيم من الدنيا.
