The Holy Quran 28:29 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

۞ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِۦٓ ءَانَسَ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ نَارًا قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ

Translation

When he (Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام) completed the term and left (Madyan) with his wife (en route to Egypt), he perceived (observed what appeared to be) a fire. He told his wife, "Wait (here), for I see a fire. Perhaps I may bring you some news (directions to Egypt) from (the people) there (at the fire), or a brand from the fire so that you may warm yourself."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فلما وفى نبي الله موسى -عليه السلام- صاحبه المدة عشر سنين، وهي أكمل المدتين، وسار بأهله إلى «مصر» أبصر من جانب الطور نارًا، قال موسى لأهله: تمهلوا وانتظروا إني أبصرت نارًا; لعلي آتيكم منها بنبأ، أو آتيكم بشعلة من النار لعلكم تستدفئون بها.
