The Holy Quran 27:24 — Surah An-Naml

Arabic text

وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ

Translation

"I found her and her people prostrating to (worshipping) the sun instead of Allaah. Shaytaan has (tremendously) beautified their actions (shirk and sin) for them and (thereby deceptively) prevented them from the right path (from worshipping Allaah), because of which they are not rightly guided (and are steeped in shirk so wage Jihaad against them)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وجدتُها هي وقومها يعبدون الشمس معرضين عن عبادة الله، وحسَّن لهم الشيطان أعمالهم السيئة التي كانوا يعملونها، فصرفهم عن الإيمان بالله وتوحيده، فهم لا يهتدون إلى الله وتوحيده وعبادته وحده.
