The Holy Quran 26:38 — Surah Ash-Shu'ara

Arabic text

فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

Translation

So the magicians were (summoned for the contest and) gathered for an appointment on the specified day (which was a day of festivity for the people).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فَجُمع السحرة، وحُدِّد لهم وقت معلوم، هو وقت الضحى من يوم الزينة الذي يتفرغون فيه من أشغالهم، ويجتمعون ويتزيَّنون؛ وذلك للاجتماع بموسى. وحُثَّ الناس على الاجتماع; أملا في أن تكون الغلبة للسحرة.
