The Holy Quran 23:14 — Surah Al-Mu'minun

Arabic text

ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَـٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ

Translation

Thereafter, We made the drop of fluid into a clot of blood, then the clot of blood into a lump of flesh, then the lump of flesh into bones, after which We dressed the bones in flesh. Thereafter (when We instilled the soul into the foetus) We made him into another type of creation (which is living and vibrant). So Blessed is Allaah, the Best of all creators (no other being can make something from nothing or give life to anything they make).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ثم خلقنا النطفة علقة أي: دمًا أحمر، فخلقنا العلقة بعد أربعين يومًا مضغة أي: قطعة لحم قَدْر ما يُمْضغ، فخلقنا المضغة اللينة عظامًا، فكسونا العظام لحمًا، ثم أنشأناه خلقًا آخر بنفخ الروح فيه، فتبارك الله، الذي أحسن كل شيء خلقه.
