The Holy Quran 22:71 — Surah Al-Hajj

Arabic text

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَـٰنًا وَمَا لَيْسَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ ۗ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِن نَّصِيرٍ

Translation

Besides Allaah, they (the Mushrikeen) worship things regarding which Allaah has not revealed any warrant (authorisation), and about which they (the Mushrikeen) have no knowledge (they have no substantiation for regarding these gods as their deities). The (unjust) oppressors (Mushrikeen) will have no helper (to save them from Allaah's punishment).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ويصر كفار قريش على الشرك بالله مع ظهور بطلان ما هم عليه، فهم يعبدون آلهة، لم يَنْزِل في كتاب مِن كتب الله برهان بأنها تصلح للعبادة، ولا علم لهم فيما اختلقوه، وافتروه على الله، وإنما هو أمر اتبعوا فيه آباءَهم بلا دليل. فإذا جاء وقت الحساب في الآخرة فليس للمشركين ناصر ينصرهم، أو يدفع عنهم العذاب.
