The Holy Quran 21:74 — Surah Al-Anbya

Arabic text

وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَـٰسِقِينَ

Translation

We granted Loot عليه الصلاة والسلام wisdom (order) and knowledge (comprehension), and We rescued (delivered) him from a town (Sodom) that (the people of which) used to perpetrate (doing) despicable (impure) acts (such as homosexuality). They were certainly evil and sinful (disobedient) people.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وآتينا لوطًا النبوة وفصل القضاء بين الخصوم وعلمًا بأمر الله ودينه، ونجيناه من قريته «سدوم» التي كان يعمل أهلها الخبائث. إنهم كانوا بسبب الخبائث والمنكرات التي يأتونها أهل سوء وقُبْح، خارجين عن طاعة الله.
