The Holy Quran 21:39 — Surah Al-Anbya

Arabic text

لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

Translation

If only the Kuffaar knew the time (in the Aakhirah) when (while suffering in Jahannam), they will neither be able to ward off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs (because fire will surround them). They will also not be helped (there). (If they had knowledge of this, they would not behave as they do.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

لو يعلم هؤلاء الكفار ما يلاقونه عندما لا يستطيعون أن يدفعوا عن وجوههم وظهورهم النار، ولا يجدون لهم ناصرًا ينصرهم، لما أقاموا على كفرهم، ولما استعجلوا عذابهم.
