The Holy Quran 21:35 — Surah Al-Anbya

Arabic text

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ

Translation

Every soul shall taste death. (However, before your death,) We test you well with good and bad conditions (to see whether you continue obeying Allaah in all conditions) and you will return to Us (after death when We shall evaluate how you performed in your test).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

كل نفس ذائقة الموت لا محالة مهما عُمِّرت في الدنيا. وما وجودها في الحياة إلا ابتلاء بالتكاليف أمرًا ونهيًا، وبتقلب الأحوال خيرًا وشرًا، ثم المآل والمرجع بعد ذلك إلى الله - وحده - للحساب والجزاء.
