The Holy Quran 17:58 — Surah Al-Isra

Arabic text

وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَسْطُورًا

Translation

We shall destroy every town before the Day of Qiyaamah (thereby punishing the Kuffaar) or (if not, We shall) severely punish it (punish the Kuffaar of these towns in the Aakhirah). This has been recorded in the Book (the "Lowhul Mahfoodh").

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ويتوعَّد الله الكفار بأنه ما من قريةٍ كافرة مكذبة للرسل إلا وسينزل بها عقابه بالهلاك في الدنيا قبل يوم القيامة أو بالعذاب الشديد لأهلها، كتاب كتبه الله وقضاء أبرمه لا بد مِن وقوعه، وهو مسطور في اللوح المحفوظ.
