The Holy Quran 12:73 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَـٰرِقِينَ

Translation

They (the brothers) said, "By Allaah! You are well aware of the fact that we have not come to cause mischief (trouble) in the land, nor are we thieves."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال إخوة يوسف: والله لقد تحققتم مما شاهدتموه منا أننا ما جئنا أرض «مصر» من أجل الإفساد فيها، وليس من صفاتنا أن نكون سارقين.
