The Holy Quran 11:44 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

وَقِيلَ يَـٰٓأَرْضُ ٱبْلَعِى مَآءَكِ وَيَـٰسَمَآءُ أَقْلِعِى وَغِيضَ ٱلْمَآءُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَٱسْتَوَتْ عَلَى ٱلْجُودِىِّ ۖ وَقِيلَ بُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Translation

(After all the Kuffaar were drowned) The order was issued (from Allaah), "O Earth! Swallow your water and O sky! Stop (raining)!" The water subsided, the decision (to destroy the people of Nooh عليه الصلاة والسلام) was over and the ark settled on Mount Judi. It was announced, "May the (tremendously) oppressive nation be (far) distanced (from Allaah's mercy)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وقال الله للأرض -بعد هلاك قوم نوح-: يا أرض اشربي ماءك، ويا سماء أمسكي عن المطر، ونقص الماء ونضب، وقُضي أمر الله بهلاك قوم نوح، ورست السفينة على جبل الجوديِّ، وقيل: هلاكًا وبعدًا للقوم الظالمين الذين تجاوزوا حدود الله، ولم يؤمنوا به.
