The Holy Quran 10:39 — Surah Yunus

Arabic text

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُوا۟ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Translation

However, they deny that (Qur'aan), the knowledge of which they could not encompass (they have not even given proper thought to what the Qur'aan tells them) and the outcome of which has not yet come to them (they have not yet witnessed the outcome of the warnings that the Qur'aan sounds because if they have to witness the punishment that the Qur'aan warns them about, they will certainly believe it). In this manner (just as these people reject without proper studying and research, so too) did those before them reject (their Ambiyaa). So (wait and) see what will be the plight of the oppressors (those who reject the Ambiyaa and the divine scriptures).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

بل سارَعوا إلى التكذيب بالقرآن أول ما سمعوه، قبل أن يتدبروا آياته، وكفروا بما لم يحيطوا بعلمه من ذكر البعث والجزاء والجنة والنار وغير ذلك، ولم يأتهم بعدُ حقيقة ما وُعِدوا به في الكتاب. وكما كذَّب المشركون بوعيد الله كذَّبت الأمم التي خلت قبلهم، فانظر -أيها الرسول- كيف كانت عاقبة الظالمين؟ فقد أهلك الله بعضهم بالخسف، وبعضهم بالغرق، وبعضهم بغير ذلك.
